WSCCOG Launches Westside Hidden Gems (June 30, 2015)
Westside Cities unite to unveil hidden gems in their towns to encourage locals and travels to discover even more of Los angeles. WSCCOG has partnered with Beverly Hills, Culver City, Santa Monica, West Hollywood, and West Los Angeles to promote a wide range of best kept secrets, insider tips and shopping, dining and attractions off the beaten path in their city and beyond. The extensive listing of Hidden Gems throughout the Westside cities in Los Angeles County can be found at on this site here.
“When’s the best time to visit the Westside? Right now. Tomorrow. Two weeks from now. There is so much to discover on the Westside, from our region’s vibrant history, culture, shopping, and numerous dining opportunities spanning five cities. While there are well-known landmarks on the top of everyone’s lists in The Westside, we hope our Hidden Gems uncover something new and exciting for our LA locals and visitors alike. Because every moment of every day, something is happening here that isn’t happening anywhere else.” Said Jeff Cooper, Culver City Councilmember and Chair of Westside Cities Council of Governments.
On June 30th, WSCCOG and partner agencies launched a joint campaign to leverage their social media outlets to announce and push their followers to discover Hidden Gems throughout the Westside via the new Westside Hidden Gems Webpage. All cities and partner agencies used the hashtag #westsidegems to bring attention to the Westside Hidden Gems webpage.
Partner cities and organizations of WSCCOG include: City of Beverly Hills, Beverly Hills Conference & Visitors Bureau, Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce, City of Culver City, Culver City Downtown Business Association, Culver City Chamber of Commerce, City of Santa Monica, Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce, City of West Hollywood, Visit West Hollywood, West Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, Venice Chamber of Commerce, and Discover Los Angeles.

CicLAvia – Culver City Meets Venice
Metro will be hosting the next CicLAvia in the Westside on August 9, 2015. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 9. The route will be a six-mile variation of the previous CicLAvia Westside route, allowing participants to explore more of Culver City’s charming neighborhoods, eclectic businesses and delicious restaurants, as well as connect with such Westside treasures as the Mar Vista Farmers Market, Abbot Kinney and Venice Beach.
The Culver City Meets Venice route is made possible with a grant from Metro Los Angeles.
New to CicLAvia? Here are four things you need to know for August 9:
- It’s FREE!
- It’s not a race and you don’t need a bike to participate. You can walk or skate to your heart’s content.
- There’s no beginning or end. You can start anywhere and go as far or as short as you want.
- The flow of participants goes both ways, just like regular traffic.
