Accomplishments
Historically, the Westside cities of Beverly Hills, Culver City, Santa Monica and West Hollywood, through an informal association of their elected officials and city managers, as well as the City of Los Angeles, through its council and staff, have played a valuable role in serving as a forum for the exchange of ideas and information. However, the growing need for cities in the Westside area of Los Angeles County to implement their own subregional policies and plans and voluntarily and cooperatively resolve differences among themselves requires a more formal structure.During the years before
the COG was formed, the cities worked on an impressive set of joint
projects resulting in innovative programs and award-winning
environmental projects. More recently, the cities have joined together
on the creation of the Westside Mobility study, Walkable Westside
program and the Westside/Central Service Sector Governing Council.
